파리대왕 요약

The title of ‘Lord of the flies’ means ‘Beelzebub’, the devil. He appears secret in textbook all through changing forms as the beasts from water or air. It symbolizes that there is always filled with fear and confusion in the world. Children sometimes try to behave rationally, but fright and distrust lead them to fails all the time. Finally, they have been brought ruin upon themselves.
At the opening part, children encounter an airplane accident. Ralph gets leadership because he has a heavy build like a grown-up, and decisively a conch, tool for calling meetings, which means authority in the world of adults. So he becomes elected by outwardly democratic election. But because the supporting foundation as well as his ability as the leader is too weak and there’s a special situation, disaster, his group loses essential glue, gets divided and even kills each other.
Following the accident that Jack and his gang let a beacon fire extinguished while hunting a wild boar, the line that Ralph declared first all children should wait for rescue of adults gets fixed. So the position of Ralph grows smaller, and Jack starts to lead children. But because a course of action Jack indicates is too violent and also the attitude of children is not rational but instinct, they go almost crazy and become no better than primitives.
The war verging on madness continues until a naval officer comes to the island. But even after he comes to save boys, it is not truth that war is over. It is an irony that children are at war, and the adults coming to save them are really soldiers also conducting the war which is larger and more terrible. That’s why the scene that Ralph and the Jack’s tribe pursuing him confront marines is so impressive. It shows that every man from child to adult has brutal instinct and gives a question what civilization of humankind has brought about.
